The Recession and the New Outlook of The Home Wealth Package

People coming of age in 2011 have a very different reality than people who graduated college twenty years ago. For example, twenty years ago social media barely existed and was only discussed by those who were very involved with the internet and computer usage.

Currently, one of the quickest growing corporate positions is handling social media and all of its applications. Though technology is one of the fastest changing fields, its certainly not the only thing that is vastly different than it used to be.

Real estate is also in a completely different place than it used to be. A couple decades earlier, young adults were told to buy a home as soon as they could. Real estate was considered a guaranteed investment, and the industry was growing faster than ever.

Buying stocks was intimidating and sometimes confusing, but owning your own home was exciting and would eventually fill your bank account with equity. This unfortunately led to the rise of poor lending habits creating a Home Wealth Package Scam.

The home wealth package is no longer a concept accepted by all. Kids graduating and moving into the world today have seen the devastation caused by the recent downfall of the economy and the bursting of the real estate bubble.

The fact that the recovery process has been so difficult doesn’t help matters either. Regardless of the experts advising people to begin investing, people still abstain, unsure that this is as bad as it will get.

One thing today’s youth may have learned from this economic crisis is that the home wealth package is meant as a long term investment. If you have the time to weather this storm, you will likely come out on the other side with a successful investment.

It’s hard to tell what this generation will actually take away from their experiences. They may become a generation of savers, careful with their investments and savings. Or, they keep the belief that more is more, and continue pouring money into the market. The future will tell.
